Visual CBT: Using pictures to help you apply Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to change your life

Many people learn best by following a visual approach – retaining information far more successfully if that information is given to them in a visual manner. Visual CBT uses illustrations, graphics and images to help the reader to alter their thought patterns and change behaviours through CBT to become a happier, healthier individual.

Uniquely, it highlights the differences between healthy and unhealthy emotional responses – for example Anxiety instead of Concern – to enable the reader to quickly "picture" how they are reacting, and bring it into line with the healthy type of response.

Author Bio:

Avy Joseph is a director and co-founder of CityMinds, a business and personal psychology consultancy based in Harley Street, London.

He is also a Fellow of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, a Fellow of the British Association of Medical Hypnosis and is accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. He is also one of the leading lights in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy.

Avy lectures nationally and internationally. He brings a refreshing, no-nonsense approach to his seminars and workshops. He has private practices in Central and South West London, specialising in self-image consultancy.

Maggie Chapman is a Director and Co-founder of CityMinds and the training organisation CCBH Ltd. She is an experienced therapist who over the years has developed an integrative approach to her work, employing brief solution focused strategies.

With degrees in business and psychology Maggie qualified as an accountant working in the City, giving her an insight into the stresses relating to the corporate environment. She then went on to qualify as a bereavement and trauma counsellor before further developing her skills to work with adolescents. She has trained in cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy and has lectured for many years both nationally and internationally in clinical hypnosis.

She has private practices from Central and South West London and in recent years she has spent much of her time working on the development of academic validation for hypnotherapy programmes at post graduate level.
